Stephen Blewett, PLA, landscape architect, native Angeleno, is a self-professed plant nerd whose passion is to infuse every landscape in the southern California region with indigenous vegetation. A graduate of the University of California, Davis Landscape Architecture program, Stephen has developed a talent over the years for ecologically based design by working at firms like BrightView Design Group (formerly Valley Crest Design Group) and Mia Lehrer + Associates. While at BrightView, Stephen spearheaded the effort to introduce more naturalistic design styles focused on California friendly plantings to projects like The Orange County Great Park (and soon to be open Sports Park) and several neighborhood parks, like Pavilion Park and Beacon Park. Stephen also collaborated with California Greenworks in the development of an Educational Native Plant and Butterfly Garden at Maya Angelou High School.

After accruing professional experience at both BrightView and Mia Lehrer + Associates, Stephen opened CRAFT (formerly Craft and Cultivate), which is focused on bringing wildlife back into our neighborhoods through intentional and site-specific residential and commercial design.

Outside of his practice, Stephen is committed to the pursuit of learning. In 2015 Stephen earned his UC California Naturalist Certificate, and has recently passed his professional licensure exams in landscape architecture (LARE). In his free time, Stephen can be found botanizing and birding in The San Gabriel Mountains, volunteering at community outreach events with the Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers and Native Plants, and teaching a course on California Native Plants at the UCLA extension.

Chris S. Sherwin, PLA is a senior landscape architect with over 20 years of professional experience with a wide range of project types that combine strategic planning and urban design with a detailed focus on construction documentation and planning as well as logistical project and team management. As a senior technical leader in the field, he combines his expertise and research into detailed design, BIM landscape project documentation, design build workflows, drone data-set implementation and optimization, and project life-cycle management.

Chris' specialization is understanding the needs of the client and the project and plotting a course for completion in a timely and effective fashion. He works with clients and project teams to manage, communicate, and deliver a high-quality finished product while under tight deadlines and budgets.

Additionally, he is conducting research into the utilization and realization of nascent UAV applications for project work-flows within BIM environments. He hopes to implement UAV turn-key services for clients who wish to utilize Autodesk Recap and BIM environments efficiently.

While consulting at BrightView Design Group (formerly Valley Crest Design Group) he then partnered up with Stephen to work on the Orange County Great Park to develop and document a series of parks that incorporated ecologically sensitive and native plantings within a broader ecologically sensitive context. And from that nascent effort the seeds of today's collaboration, CRAFT, was born.

Chris holds a MLA II from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a BSLA from the University of Oregon. He is also a licensed and registered FAA UAV Drone Pilot 107.
