We believe that restoring your connection to the natural world is the key to health and happiness.

CRAFT LA is a Los Angeles-based studio originating from a love for site-specific design. The studio first opened in late 2016 as CRAFT and CULTIVATE, later becoming CRAFT LA in late 2019.

Our team’s collective experience includes a wide range of project types including private gardens, multi-family housing, commercial and mixed-use properties, master planned communities, private and public parks, hospitality, academic campus planning, and sport fields.

What is Big Nature Design and Why Do I Need It?

Big Nature is an experience akin to a leisurely walk in a National Park. It's where nature’s epic sights, sounds, and smells wash away our worries and uplift and re-energize our spirit. It’s an experience that celebrates our innate connection to nature, by repairing and restoring habitat in our own gardens, so that we can experience its healing powers in increased intervals.

Collaborate with us, and we will transform your life.

Our Team

  • Principal + Landscape Architect, PLA (he/him)

Stephen Blewett is a licensed landscape architect and the founder of CRAFT Landscape Architecture. Stephen designs through an ecological lens, tapping into the health and wellness benefits of Big Nature design. He values his client relationships and has a knack for understanding their needs when it comes to design. A third generation Angeleno, Stephen has developed a deep love for California ecology while spending most of his childhood summers in the Sierra Nevada. He is a native plant and ecology enthusiast passionate about learning, designing, and honing his craft. Stephen’s professional background includes time spent at several notable Los Angeles-based firms such as Brightview Design Group, Studio-MLA, and RELM, where he learned the value of narrative-based design and multi-disciplinary collaboration over a range of project types. Stephen’s academic background includes degrees in both Multimedia Design and Landscape Architecture. Outside of the studio, he enjoys spending his time reading, hiking, kayaking, fly-fishing, and adventuring with his wife, Sara, and their Australian Shepherd, Bear.

  • Senior Associate, ASLA (she/they)

Meagan Yellott is a Senior Associate who leads project design with the belief that design should first support the earth and then serve our human needs for protection, function, and beauty. This is especially true here in southern California, where systems – both urban and ecological – are increasingly stressed, if not precarious. Meagan balances site design, project coordination, documentation and client interfacing, leaning into cross-disciplinary practices. She values collaboration and community building with developers, architects, homeowners, engineers, and contractors alike. She brings 10 years of experience in landscape planning and design of plazas, parks and open space, school and corporate campuses; and mixed-use and multi-family residential developments. Previous projects include California Plaza, Intuitive Surgical in Sunnyvale; Cadence Park and Artwalk; and the Orange County Great Park in Irvine. Meagan holds a bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies from Occidental College and a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona. Originally from New Mexico, Meagan learned to read and respect the landscape from the gondola of a hot air balloon. Lately, she enjoys living room jam sessions and dance parties with her family.
