Location: Altadena, Los Angeles, CA
Year: 2022
Vegetative Community: Chaparral
Located at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains in Altadena, CA. Baileya, is everything we think a turf removal project should embrace. Conscious of our warming climate, it’s a celebration of place, beckoning neighborhood fauna with its wild and untethered habitat.
A rainwater garden traveling across the landscape, nearly reaching the street, connects the home with the community. Newly planted native California fan palms accompany and contextualize existing queen palms. Boulders and flagstone connect and complement the architecture, while a spring boulder surrounded by native plants, complete the habitat restoration - elevating this yard’s carrying capacity.
